There is something new in entertainment.
House concerts (home shows) are a sign of the 21st Century.
I heard several celebrities mention they had appeared in these venues.
Does that mean we can enjoy a concert in somebody’s home?
Of course celebrities have performed at private concerts for corporations and large businesses but usually not in people’s homes.
This was my first house concert and I didn’t know what to expect.
Joe and Sandie Marroso greeted me at the door and I joined the guests in the living room.
Their family and friends excitedly awaited the songstress known by one name Callaghan.
We could hear singer-songwriter Callaghan’s melodious voice as she rehearsed upstairs.
With the release of Callaghan’s debut album ‘Life in Full Colour’, she began her ‘Across America’ tour from Boston to San Francisco.
She appeared in a hosted house concert every night for 28 shows.
Tonight’s program included a host-prepared dinner with the show.
The guests filled their plates with shrimp cocktail, pulled pork and chicken sandwiches, sushi, fresh fruit, cookies and other goodies.
Just add more chairs to a living room-setting and voilà you have a concert.
Instead of a stage with spotlights there were lamps and room lights.
Callaghan sang while accompanying herself on the keyboard and guitar.
Getting to know the celebrity is priceless.
In this informal setting, the guests can actually speak to celebrities and ask questions.
This was such a pleasant evening, an interlude with friendly people instead of at an impersonal nightclub.
It doesn’t take a person named Romney to afford a house concert.
Hosting house concerts requires a home or room holding from as little as 25 to 100 people.
Some hosts collect a nominal charge from their guests while others pay the entire amount.
The entertainment costs depend on the celebrities’ popularity.
A Playboy model, musicians or tomorrow’s stars would be more reasonable.
The stars, cast and participants of reality shows charge fees to appear at parties and events.
Then there are the mega-stars who request a private jet, food and extras.
The house concerts are different and so personal.
