Sadly, once again GOP Leadership failed to fully utilize the opportunity to introduce all candidates for CCRCC’s open positions to the unusually large crowd. Clearly, most of the attendees were interested in participating in the election of officers, yet less than one third of attendees are actually eligible members of the Central Committee. There are at least five open seats, with several candidates for each.
The GOP Club that billed the event at Stoney’s as a meet-and-greet with heavy food and cash bar, never invited or allowed other candidates to speak. Sadly, the three or more minutes that candidates were able to speak did not allow for a debate format or even a question and answer period.
Rumor has it The State Party-backed candidate, Jesse Law, is ineligible to run for Clark County Chair. Just another oversight from GOP Leadership — or is it more sinister?
David Crete is also running for the Chairmanship, is confirmed eligible, and has a clear plan for attracting more active members, vetting candidates, as well as fund-raising beyond The Lincoln Day Dinner. His wife is a passionate Cuban, they have two kids in law enforcement, and he owns a small business in Clark County.
While Eddie Hamilton did declare interest in the position, State Senator Carrie Ann Buck is the last viable contender for county party chair…but sadly, she voted with the Democrats MANY times while in Carson City as well as carried zero legislation out of committee.
Worse, she is endorsed by the National Education Association (NEA). Would she defend Republican values and local concerned parents about Critical Race Theory, or will she once again side with the Democrats in the NEA?
Carrie Ann also has significant ties to the current leadership in the CCRP, which created significant financial issues with the Federal Election Commission. The FEC has been sending nasty-grams to the Clark County Republican Central Committee, CCRP, since December of 2020.
These missives have gone unanswered and disregarded for over eight months. Why didn’t Carrie Ann and her handlers clean that mess up?
After all, according to the filing, they raised under $5000. Could we trust Senator Buck to know the difference between fund-raising for her political aspirations AND the money raised for Republicans? Trust is not a good idea when we’re talking about politics, right?
President Trump says we have to influence local elections first. With the same leadership for the past, how can Republicans expect different results? Dave Crete is untried in the Clark County arena, but at least he knows which county seats will be open in the upcoming election and has strategies to Get Out The Vote.
Out with the old and in with the new!
Let’s use this strategy for 2022!!!
