The time is overdue for a Voter Identification Card

By Nelson Sardelli
Special to the Las Vegas Tribune
I deeply appreciate Rolando Larraz, founder and publisher of the Las Vegas Tribune, for allowing me to write about, what in my opinion is, a very important subject; one that can no longer be kicked down the road and must be resolved immediately.
Mr. Larraz is aware that I have never been known for sugar-coating my opinions and personal evaluations. No filter has yet been created to muffle what I have to say when my beliefs propel me to state them. So here we go.
I am Nelson Sardelli, an 86-year-old proud American citizen by naturalization, a U.S. Army veteran, and a patriot. I still have warm feelings for my country of origin, Brazil, and for the country of my ancestors, Italy, but my total and unshaken allegiance is pledged to the United States of America.
No one forced me, or insisted that I come to this country. I chose to do so. I did not come here to just be an observer, to benefit myself
or fleece its benefits and not totally assimilate and become an integral part of this nation.
As Teddy Roosevelt clearly stated, and I quote: “In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith
becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to
discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every
facet an American, and nothing but an American… There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but
something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
As a legal immigrant, those words have always resonated in me. I am not here to observe. I am here to strive to be a part of the solution, and to the best of my capabilities I will attempt to do so.
What follows is, or should be, of interest to every American, regardless of political affiliation and I will emphasize my statement
with what I believe to be true: Only corrupt politicians and dishonest citizens whose personal interests rise above what is the best for the country will be against what is being proposed here. Before you come up with some flimsy, weak excuses that make no sense against a National Voter’s Identification card, let me just remind you of some of the things that require you to have—and you cannot do without—a proper and valid Identification card or license.
Without identification you CANNOT: Get a driver’s license, open a bank account, cash a check, get married, buy a house, rent an apartment, buy a car, rent a car, get a loan, buy a gun, board a plane, get a passport, check into a hospital, donate blood, pick up certain
prescriptions, get a hunting, fishing, or boating license, buy alcohol, buy cigarettes, apply for a credit card, apply for welfare,
apply for food stamps, adopt a pet, pick up a “comp” or pre-paid ticket left under your name at the ticket counter….and much, much
more.
People have been managing to apply for welfare, food stamps, and EBT cards for years, so it is not designed to make it difficult for anyone to obtain this card. All the problems of the past will not work against or hinder what can, honestly, be accomplished here.
Petitions are being printed for that purpose, websites are being created, and social media sites such as Parler, Facebook and all print
media sites are willing to participate in helping this grassroots movement to move forward.
If you are not computer savvy, just mail us a note, with your name, address and signature, saying that you demand the creation of a
National Voter’s Identification Card to Non Partisan Voters United, 716 South 10th Street, Suite 305, Las Vegas NV, 89101. If you are a
computer wiz, you may email us at nopartisanvotersunited@gmail.com.
This card will eliminate any possible fraudulent activities, one that will work like a personal credit card, can be used anywhere in the
world replacing absentee votes, will be non-transferable, can be used only once per election and… expires when you die, just like your
social security card.
