This show gives you MORE with 3 tribute artists and 3 different styles of music!
I reviewed Tina Turner years ago and interviewed the fantastic Cookie Watkins before seeing her Tribute to Tina Turner a month ago (South Point). Cookie performs her tribute with such fervor and a deep passion for perfection as the principal performer and will join this threesome in “Soul, Rock ‘N Blues”.
Cookie explained, “I appeared in three Broadway shows, performed in Europe and made a name for myself as a background singer. I have numerous rock albums, R&B records, in fact, I finally got my own record deal- three singles and a new single next month.”
I reviewed The Tom Jones’ shows in the 80”s and interviewed him at press parties after his shows, he was so charming and handsome yet still attractive today in his 70’s with grey hair. Jones’ dynamite unmatched performances brought ladies throwing their room keys on the stage. I have never seen Steven, Eric or Carmen and will compare their performances to the memorable Tom Jones shows and to the Blues Brothers.
Steve McCoy describes his performance tribute to Tom Jones as “I’m living a dream!” Steve sings Jones’ hits “It’s Not Unusual” and “Love Me Tonight.” Women scream while enjoying tongue in cheek flirtations, before McCoy invites the whole audience to join in a rousing rendition of “Delilah.” From the cool cadence of “What’s New Pussycat” to the soul wrenching “I Who Have Nothing” McCoy pays homage to the magic that is Tom Jones.
Steve joined the Legends in Concert cast in 1991 to rave reviews for him and the show. “I feel the live band and the genuine performances are the elements that really energize the show.”
Known in the industry for his portrayal as “Elwood” of “The Blues Brothers”, Eric Martin and his partner Carmen Romano have been performing together as “The Blues Brothers” for 18 years in over 9000 shows. They were a staple in the award
winning show, “Legends in Concert” in Las Vegas, for an unprecedented 10 consecutive years! Previously Carmen sang back up for the legendary Paul Anka at Caesars Palace.
“Soul, Rock ‘N Blues” appears on Sunday, September 23, at 7 pm show, in the 400 seat Clark County Library Theater, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.
