After Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Coffin called for the death of the President of the United States, Coffin had shown he is unfit for office and fellow Democrat Horsford must call on him to resign.
Congressman Steven Horsford’s friend and Las Vegas City Councilman lame duck Bob Coffin has called for the President of the United States to die in two tweets (one that has been deleted).
Jim Marchant, former Assemblyman and candidate for Congress in Nevada’s 4th Congressional District, has called for Bob Coffin to resign his seat and asks that Steve Horsford join him in condemning this despicable behavior.
“Threatening the President of the United States… any president… is a Federal crime.” Jim Marchant said, “I disagreed with President Obama on policy but calling for ANY American President’s death is unAmerican and should be repudiated by leaders in both parties. Steve Horsford should call out bad behavior in his own party.”
Ironically-named Bob Coffin’s behavior is out of line and Steve Horsford, as a leader in the Democratic Party, has a responsibility to police his own ranks.
We have learned that the outpouring of emails asking for Coffin’s resignation is extremely high within both parties, some showing no surprise at the actions of the former Democrat legislator and sitting city council, but showing surprise at the fact that Congressman Steve Horsford, as a leader in the Democratic Party, has a responsibility to police his own ranks and has not shown any intention to apologize for the party, the office or his friend.
The rude and unprofessional behavior of the Democratic Councilman is no surprise to many of those who know him and are familiar with how rude, nasty, crude and gross he is; Coffin publicly berated Mr. Yohan Lowie in a city council meeting with anti-Semitic remarks by comparing Mr. Lowie’s personal actions in pursuing the development of the land to the treatment of “unruly Palestinians.”
While President Trump is alive and well, it seems civility is dead among the Democrats and Las Vegas Councilman Bob Coffin’s call for the death of President Trump clearly shows that.
“Bob Coffin has yet to offer apologies calling for the President to die and Congressman Steven Horsford or any other elected Democrat has yet to condemn his remarks” was written on a website that asks for the councilman’s resignation.
Local and federal law enforcement agencies should investigate Bob Coffin for instigating, provoking, and promoting harm to the duly elected president of the United States; if anything should happen to the president, Bob Coffin could be held responsible.
Threatening government officials of the United States is a felony under federal law. Threatening the President of the United States is a felony under 18 U.S.C. and while Bob Coffin may not have threatened the president directly, he may have instigated and maybe even “inspired” someone to do what he does not have the courage (thank goodness) to do himself.
The United States Secret Service investigates suspected violations of this law and monitors those who have a history of threatening the President. Threatening the President is considered a political offense. Immigrants who commit this crime can be deported.
Because the offense consists of pure speech, the courts have issued rulings attempting to balance the government’s interest in protecting the President with free speech rights under the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
According to the book Stalking, Threatening, and Attacking Public Figures, “Hundreds of celebrity howlers threaten the President of the United States every year, sometimes because they disagree with his policies, but more often just because he is the President.”
Internationally famous Madonna expressed her opinion of the White House and the president by saying she’s “thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House” during a speech at the Women’s March on Washington and was investigated by the Secret Service.
A little and simple Las Vegas City Councilman like James Robert Coffin, AKA Bob Coffin, should not be overlooked and should also be investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Secret Service as equally.
Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Coffin should know better and show an example of decency and respect even if he does not know how to spell either word.
