A North Las Vegas Judge is still suffering the vindictive efforts of campaign bully Dave Thomas, now with the help of the one-sided Nevada State Judicial Commission and the local daily newspaper, which only publishes one side of the story.
North Las Vegas Municipal Court Judge Catherine Ramsey is an independent judge who follows the law and doesn’t take sides with the powers that be, headed by the city mayor, John Lee.
The ugly tension in the court started when Mayor John Lee began the effort to take the money from the court and put it in the city general account.
Judge Ramsey is charged with several violations that include the use of a city issued-credit card to pay for her defense after the city refused to defend the judge on the bogus charges.
Thomas, a manipulator that runs the political campaigns for almost every judge in the Eighth Judicial District Court, has taken the opportunity to break in to the North Las Vegas court by creating a recall on Judge Ramsey and using a city employee as a candidate against the judge.
Sandra Morgan is now the North Las Vegas City Attorney after using tactics to make Judge Ramsey look bad by coercing the city to confirm her to the position vacated when the previous city attorney and city manager resigned within a few hours of each other.
Bench warrants are required to be signed by the city attorney before a judge could order them, but Sandra Morgan refused to sign them as the city’s acting city attorney until the city confirmed her as the North Las Vegas City Attorney.
Mayor John Lee, who is up for reelection and faces former Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins in that race, claims that Judge Ramsey’s refusal to execute those search warrants and arrest warrants were costing the city lots of money, but did not order or even ask the acting city attorney to sign the warrants.
Judge Ramsey took the recall to court and lost in part because the judge hearing her case, Eric Johnson, AKA Louis Johnson, is an appointee of Governor Brian Sandoval — and along with his wife, another judge in District Court, Sandra Johnson, is also under the
Dave Thomas spell. The case is now in the hands of the Nevada Supreme Court.
The Commission, another creation of the “system” to play the political game, was created by a constitutional amendment on November 2, 1976, to investigate allegations of judicial misconduct in office, violations of the Revised Nevada Code of Judicial Conduct, or disability of judges — only when it’s convenient for some of those appointees to the commission and when they are ordered to “attack!!!”
The Commission is composed of seven members: two judges appointed by the Nevada Supreme Court, two attorneys appointed by the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Nevada; and three lay persons appointed by the Governor of the State of Nevada, but their names are not made public. Its staff consists of a full-time General Counsel/Executive Director, Associate General Counsel and three Management Analysts, but its location is a confidential matter; they are not allowed to divulge their address and the public is not allowed to be part of their meetings or to know their agendas.
Judge Ramsey hired well-known Las Vegas attorney Craig Mueller to represent her, and her day in court came in front of Thomas-controlled judge, Eric Johnson, AKA Louis Johnson, the husband of another Thomas-controlled judge, Susan Johnson.
As it was expected, Judge Ramsey lost the fight when the male Judge Johnson ruled against Judge Ramsey, most likely under pressure by the female Judge Johnson and the Johnson’s campaign manager, Dave Thomas.
