After seeing the “Island Heat LuWOW” show, I had a chance to interview long time Las Vegas show producer John Stuart.
SZ: “I loved the show, “Tropical Heat LuWOW” is different!”
JS: “I produced and directed this show for Mark Green, the owner of the Kahunaville Restaurant and his new “Tropical Heat LuWOW” showroom.
There is a tremendous resurgence of Vegas in the show, actually a Vegas-style luau with beautiful women and good looking men.
We have a special tribute to Elvis Presley. All of the greatest songs that come to America from Hawaii were sung by Elvis. Don Ho’s Tiny Bubbles and a few others became famous but the person who did the greatest television show that has ever been in Hawaii was Elvis Presley.
Since I created Legends in Concert back in 1983, I have always been familiar with all of the great Elvis impressionists. This show features Tyler Hunter, great costumes and great lighting.”
SZ: “Your island dancers and music are not the usual we expect to see in a tropical island show.”
JS: “LuWOW” includes basa nova, jazz and even a tribute to the Black-Eyed Peas. We are not stuck with anything that has to do with a Polynesian revue and just entertain. There is nothing holding us back. “LuWOW“ is an explosion of theater and tropical song and dance.
There are three chorographers, one for the men, one for the women and a third for the Elvis tribute.
Charlene, our co-host with Tyler, appeared in “Miss Saigon”, on Broadway for six years.
The showroom has a large professional stage, lights, sound booth and a great cast.”
SZ: “The “Tropical Heat LuWOW” show surprises audiences as well as their dinner. This is one of the few dinner shows in Las Vegas. The menu combined Hawaiian and English titled for the three course dinner.
Paola (bread): Start the dinner with a fresh Amaacadamia white chocolate roll.
Lua’ai (salad): The tropical salad I filled with pineapple, strawberries, Mandarin oranges, Provolone cheese, Mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, mixed greens Pecans tossed in a Balsamic Viniegrette and topped with shaved toasted coconut.

Guests have a choice of four ‘Aina ahiahi four entrees. Macademia crusted mahi mahi, teriyaki flank steak, ahi tuna, pina colada chicken.
And there’s more, the Mea ‘ai momona (dessert). Chef Buddha Lira’s signature chocolate dessert.
They even have special gluten free, vegetarian, vegan options.
“Tropical Heat LuWOW” appears nightly, dark Tuesdays, with two shows at 6 and 8 pm.
